3D Ground Mapping with Handheld Detectors
The TreasureHunter3D handheld range does something no ordinary metal detector can: it builds a live 3D map of the ground as you scan, displayed directly on your smartphone. Instead of guessing where to dig from a beep, you see buried objects plotted in colour on a grid — before you lift a shovel.
How 3D Ground Scanning Works
- Hold the detector at hip height and walk straight, parallel scan lines
- The Visualizer app records sensor readings at each position
- A colour-coded grid builds in real time:
| Colour | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Red / warm | Highest probability of a buried object |
| Yellow | Probable target |
| Green | Clear — no significant anomaly |
| Grey | Not yet scanned |
- When the scan is complete, dig at the red/warm zones

The Visualizer App
All four detectors use the TreasureHunter3D Visualizer app — available for iOS (App Store) and Android (Google Play). Professional 3D scan mode (GoldenEye Plus only) requires an iPhone 6S or later running iOS 11.
Tips for Best Results
- Walk straight, parallel scan lines — map quality depends on consistent coverage
- Keep the detector at the same height throughout a scan
- Use higher resolution (GoldenEye Plus) for a detailed map of promising areas
- Use the Position Indicator (GoldenEye, GoldenEye Plus) to pinpoint targets precisely within the grid
- Save completed scans and review them side-by-side in the app
