Troubleshooting
The detector does not turn on
- Check that a 9V battery is installed and not depleted.
- Replace with a fresh alkaline 9V battery.
- Hold the Power button for 3 full seconds.
The app cannot find the detector
- Confirm the detector is turned on — the LED should be green.
- Confirm Bluetooth is enabled on your iPhone (Settings → Bluetooth).
- Ensure the iPhone is mounted in the device holder on the detector.
- Force-close the GoldHunter app and relaunch it.
- Power off the detector, wait 5 seconds, then power it back on.
The LED is green but the app does not connect
The LED turns blue once the app connects. Green means powered but not yet paired. Try:
- Closing and reopening the app.
- Toggling iPhone Bluetooth off and on again.
- Restarting the detector.
I am getting many false signals
| Cause | Solution |

| Highly mineralised soil | Perform ground balance in All-Metal mode |
| Gain set too high | Reduce the Gain knob setting |
| Nearby metal objects | Move away from fences, pipes, or debris |
| Wet sand / saltwater | Lower Gain; use All-Metal mode with careful ground balance |
Detection depth seems shallow
- Ensure ground balance is correctly performed for the soil type.
- Switch from Discrimination mode to All-Metal mode for maximum depth.
- Check the searchcoil cable is securely connected to the control unit.
- Replace the battery — a low battery reduces detection performance.
3D Ground Scan is not available in the app
The 3D Ground Scan with AR feature requires an iPhone 6s or later. Older iPhones will not display this option in the app.
The searchcoil makes a constant noise
- Ground balance the detector for the current soil.
- Reduce the Gain knob.
- Ensure the searchcoil cable is not coiled tightly around the shaft — tight coiling can cause electrical interference.
- Move away from sources of electromagnetic interference (power lines, generators, other detectors).
Battery drains quickly
- Use a fresh alkaline 9V battery for best performance. Some rechargeable batteries may not provide sufficient voltage.
- Turn the detector off when not in use.
- Reduce screen brightness on your iPhone.
